Pizhou Dongfang Port was invested and constructed by Xuzhou Oriental Real Estate Group Co., Ltd. in 2011. It is located to the west of Xu Tang Power Plant and on the left bank of the Grand Canal. The port has a vast economic hinterland and convenient transportation. The Longhai Railway runs through it from east to west, surrounded on three sides by the Lianhuo Expressway, the Jinghu Expressway, and the Jingfu Expressway, forming a well-connected land transportation network. Currently, there are bulk cargo and container operation areas, with 4 berths for thousand-ton vessels and a designed annual throughput capacity of 3 million tons. The main equipment at the port includes: 1 rail-mounted gantry crane, 2 shore cranes, 1 150-ton truck scale, 5 loaders, 1 container loading platform, and 2 vessels capable of handling 2000-ton containers.
Port operations include coal loading and unloading as well as container handling, with 2 existing coal berths and a designed annual throughput of 2 million tons, capable of storing 200,000 tons of coal, as well as 1 container berth with a designed annual capacity of 30,000 TEUs, capable of loading and unloading 20GP and 40GP containers, making it a key distribution center for coal from Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, and an important inland hub port for the transportation of coal from north to south and container trade routes.
Dongfang Port insists on creating a 'Vibrant Port, Charming East' as its purpose, adhering to the 5-in-1 development concept of 'integration, fusion, cooperation, synergy, and unity' to contribute to the construction of Xuzhou into a major port.
